*122 - PA System Crew's Experience

In an event, a few of very-much-important-parts need to be take care of... They are the PA system, Lightings & Stage presentation and Emcee... These are the major things tat an audience will hear n see to evaluate an event...

Since im more on the PA system side... I'll share some of the basics tat needs attention... To make the event HEARS better...

I attended Biomed Idol just now... For a amateur in technical, im impressed with the performance they delivered... Mayb a few advice below can help them in the future...

1. PA system's technical personnel needs to be fully prepared on the songs... Every songs preferably from the computer... Since a song tat played from a cellphone n go through the mic totally sucks...

2. Choices of songs and music is also very important to ensure its appropriate for the agenda... Erm... For example, playing Don't Trust Me by 3Oh!3 for souvenir giving just dont feel appropriate...

3. Fade in and fade out is a basic technique tat should be applied on every songs... Cutting off music right away will sound weird to the audience... It like boom boom boom n suddenly everything went silence... i look at u u look at me tat kinda feel...

4. Wiring... Must be organised properly... Coz every connection shifting will effect the speaker... It may generate noise or piak piak sound which is not pleasant to ears... Try to minimise cable unplugging and plugging if possible... If cant prevent it... u'll hav to turn down the amplifier volume before doing so...

5. To make things sounds good, mic positioning is a very very important piece of art... Coz position of the mic on instrument is crucial to deliver the instruments sound into the system...

6. Last but not least... Channel volume balancing should be done correctly... A song cannot be all vocal but only can merely hear the music... or just the music and cant hear anything on the vocal... After some experience... u'll know when to put the songs in high volume, n when to slow it down...

Just a few more experience on technical then my biomed juniors are ready for the real stuff :) Everyone too learn from thier mistakes...
